THE PARTICIPANTS OF SLANO FILM DAYS ARE THE FUTURE OF REGIONAL FILM SCENES

An event that connects rising regional filmmakers and eminent names from the world of film industry will be held in Slano and the Elaphite Islands from June 18th to 22nd, 2024.

Slano, one of the most picturesque places on the Dubrovnik Riviera, will host Slano Film Days for the first time in June. It is a unique format of events dedicated to film that connects rising regional filmmakers and prominent names from the world of film industry. The Slano Film Days program consists of film discussions, film screenings and numerous informal get-togethers. Freed from competitive pressure, young directors, actors and cinematographers have the opportunity to openly discuss the creative process of creating films with world film artists, winners of the most prestigious film awards. With Mirsad Purivatra, the founder and author of the Slano Film Days concept, they are bound by long-term professional cooperation, as well as friendship.

"A total of 17 young film artists received an invitation to participate in Slano Film Days, who will participate in film discussions in the fields of acting, directing or camera. Slano Film Days focuses on the creative process, film as art, leaving aside its commodity value. World-renowned filmmakers have the opportunity to share their experience, but also to be inspired by young talents who, in turn, have the opportunity to meet directly with some of the most important names from the world of the film industry, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. In this way, we contribute to the personal and professional development of film artists in the region,'' said Purivatra.

Nikola Knežić, the mayor of the Municipality of Dubrovačko Primorje, expressed his satisfaction with the recent holding of Slano Film Days, and he is sure that all participants and guests will enjoy the beauty of these areas during their stay in Slano. "On behalf of the Municipality of Dubrovnik Primorje, I can say that we are extremely satisfied that in this way we can support and improve the quality of the cultural offer in Slano, but also permanently establish this part of southern Dalmatia as a meeting place for filmmakers and professionals from the region and the world."

Eight actresses and actors, six directors, and three cinematographers will participate in Slano Film Days, all successful in their artistic activities: Goran Marković (actor, Croatia), Milica Janevski (actress, Serbia), Era Balaj (actress, Kosovo), Saško Kočev (actor, North Macedonia), Anuša Kodelja (actress, Slovenia), Lidija Kordić (actress, Montenegro), Boris Ler (actor, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Anita Ognjanović (actress, Serbia), Hana Jušić (director, Croatia), Ivan Bakrač (director, Montenegro), Blerta Basholli (director, Kosovo), Dina Duma (director, North Macedonia), Vladimir Tagić (director, Serbia), Urša Menart (director, Slovenia), Dubravka Kurobasa (cinematographer, Croatia), Maja Radošević (cameraman, Serbia) and Milica Drakulić (cameraman, Serbia).

The main program of Slano Film Days, lectures and discussions with specially prepared topics for directors, actors and cinematographers will be held in the premises of the partner Admiral Grand Hotel. Evening screenings of award-winning films by visiting world authors also await us. The first film screening, on the opening night itself, will be held on the central square in Slano, while the rest of the screenings await us in the Slano Film Days summer cinema, in the garden of Villa Riva, where informal gatherings of all Slano Film Days participants and guests will be organized.

Slano Film Days is organized in partnership with the most prestigious film festival in the region, the Sarajevo Film Festival. The participation of film artists and students from the region at Slano Film Days was supported by regional film centers and funds through a partnership with Slano Film Days: Croatian Audiovisual Center, Film Center of Serbia, Film Center of Montenegro, Slovenian Film Center and North Macedonian Film Agency.

Slano Film Days will be held in Slano and on the Elaphite Islands from June 18th to 22nd, 2024.
