Open Call for Applications: Beglika Art Residency
July 28 – August 7, 2025 | Golyam Beglik Reservoir, Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria

Beglika Fest, one of Bulgaria’s most renowned cultural festivals, is thrilled to announce the launch of its first international art residency. Taking place from July 28 to August 7, 2025, this unique program invites artists worldwide to create site-specific installations and performances inspired by the breathtaking surroundings of the Rhodope Mountains and the Golyam Beglik Reservoir.
This residency is a special collaboration with the 15th edition of Beglika Fest, designed to foster an intimate dialogue between art and nature. Selected participants will have the opportunity to develop creative responses to the landscape while adhering to sustainable artistic practices. The initiative encourages works that seamlessly integrate into the environment, promoting ecological awareness and artistic innovation.
Eligibility & Application
Applications are now open until May 15, 2025, for individual artists — including visual artists, dancers, choreographers, actors, and sculptors — as well as collectives and organizations. While experience in land art and site-specific work is beneficial, it is not a requirement.
Participants will be immersed in a natural setting, with essential support provided, including tents, camping equipment, a shared kitchen (with electricity available at designated hours), and vegetarian catering. A budget for materials and technical assistance from the festival’s team and volunteers will also be available to support the artists’ creative process.
Selection Process
Beglika’s arts committee and festival curators will evaluate applications based on artistic merit, originality, feasibility, and ecological sustainability. The selected artists will be announced at the end of May on the festival’s official website.
The Beglika Art Residency is supported by Bulgaria’s National Culture Fund. For further details and to apply, visit www.beglika.org/en.
